Since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has announced numerous operations to expose Russian agents on its soil.
Ukraine's security service (SBU) said on Wednesday it had detained a senior official at its anti-terrorist center on suspicion of spying for Russia, in a case that shows the continued threat posed by secret agents to national security. The detained official was the chief of staff of the center and had been working for Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), the SBU said on the Telegram messaging app. It did not name the official.
Details shared yesterday revealed Koziura was recruited in 2018 in Vienna, but it was only in December that he was ordered by Moscow to work actively.
