Oddly enough, the Seahawks had just cut Tyler Lockett. With Metcalf now heading to the Steelers, Seattle is left with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jake Bobo, and Dareke Young. Metcalf is going to become the lead receiver next to George Pickens, giving the Steelers a massive one-two punch in the receiving department. The issue now is who the team plans to keep at quarterback.
The Steelers cannonballed into free agency Sunday night, acquiring wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks for a 2025 second-round draft pick and agreeing to a five-year, $150 million extension, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Prior to the trade, reports had indicated that Metcalf was hoping to go to a warm-weather city in any sort of deal, but his representatives pushed back on that on Sunday night, according to Pellissero. Metcalf is “all-in” on his new team and chief among the things Metcalf wanted from his new team were a fresh start, a competitive team and a new deal, according to the report.
