British environmental activist group Just Stop Oil said on Thursday it would halt its high-profile climate protest stunts after a final demonstration in London in April.
In a statement on Thursday, local time, the United Kingdom-based organisation said it would cease controversial protest actions after it claimed to have "kept over 4.4 billion barrels of oil in the ground".
In an announcement on social media, the group — whose members blocked motorways and disrupted the Ashes cricket — boasted: “Just Stop Oil's initial demand to end new oil and gas is now Government policy, making us one of the most successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history.”
