Trump Admin Slashes $450 Million in Federal Funding to Harvard for Failing to Combat 'Anti-Semitic Harassment'

Trump administration cuts an additional $450 million in grants to Harvard

“Harvard University has repeatedly failed to confront the pervasive race discrimination and anti-Semitic harassment plaguing its campus,” the Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism said in a statement. The task force went on to call Harvard a “breeding ground for virtue signaling and discrimination.” It’s the latest funding hit for the elite university, which has been a target of the Trump administration over the last several weeks. The Trump administration and Harvard have been engaged in a high-profile legal battle. Harvard did not immediately respond to the latest funding cuts. University President Alan Garber previously issued a statement defending its constitutional rights after filing a lawsuit against the administration to halt the funding freeze.

Trump administration cuts $450M more in Harvard grants, alleging antisemitism

President Trump’s administration announced that it is cutting another $450 million in grants for Harvard University, alleging the school has failed to combat “pervasive race discrimination and anti-Semitic harassment” on campus. The reduction, which was announced by the White House’s Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism on Tuesday morning, comes on top of the $2.2 billion federal funding slashed from the Ivy League school last week. “Harvard’s campus, once a symbol of academic prestige, has become a breeding ground for virtue signaling and discrimination. This is not leadership; it is cowardice. And it’s not academic freedom; it’s institutional disenfranchisement,” the task force said in a statement.

Trump Administration Pulls Another $450 Million From Harvard

The announcement follows the cancellation of about $2.2 billion last month and a pledge last week by Education Secretary Linda McMahon to stop providing Harvard with any new federal grants. “Harvard University has repeatedly failed to confront the pervasive race discrimination and anti-Semitic harassment plaguing its campus,” the administration wrote in a letter Tuesday signed by members of the government’s antisemitism task force, which has been leading the charge against elite universities. The letter singled out the Harvard Law Review for alleged race discrimination when evaluating articles for inclusion in its journal. Harvard has been locked in a battle with the Trump administration since late March when the government said it was reviewing nearly $9 billion in federal funding over antisemitism concerns.
