Astronomers solve mystery about quasars - and the likely future of the Milky Way
Quasars are objects of very high luminosity found in the centres of some galaxies and can be a trillion times brighter than the sun.

2y agoAstronomers said on April 26 that for the first time they have confirmed what ignites quasars, the brightest and most powerful objects in the universe, which put galaxies in their "death throes."
By comparing observations of 48 quasars and their host galaxies with images of over 100 non-quasar galaxies, researchers concluded that galaxies hosting quasars are approximately three times as likely to be interacting or colliding with other galaxies.
