On Friday afternoon, a search aircraft spotted an "item of interest" and a Coast Guard helicopter responded to investigate, the agency said at a news conference Friday.
The Coast Guard said in the post that the three deceased individuals were found inside the aircraft, which, based on preliminary investigation, is the Bering Air flight that went off the radar after witnessing a sudden loss of altitude.
The U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska said Friday afternoon that it had located an aircraft matching the description of the Nome-bound plane that went missing after takeoff with 10 people onboard on Thursday.
