Cleveland’s winning margin over the four games was a combined 122 points, the largest advantage in an NBA playoff series ever. The previous record was 121 points from when the Denver Nuggets beat New Orleans in 2009. The 55-point winning margin in Game 4 was the fourth-biggest playoff win ever, with a record 58-point blowout being achieved twice: in 1956, the then-Minneapolis Lakers beat the then-St. Louis Hawks by that mark as well as the Denver Nuggets when they routed the New Orleans Hornets in 2009. In 1973, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors by 56 points. The Cavs would have tied the all-time record if it wasn’t for a three-pointer from Miami’s Pelle Larsson with 38 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 55. “We handled our business and this is the toughest game of the series, and for us, we really set the tone, that’s something to be proud of,” Cleveland guard Donovan Mitchell – who led the team with 22 points – told reporters afterwards. “We have a bigger goal in mind, understanding that this is special. We’ve been doing special things all year, but we didn’t come to just sweep in the first round and get to the second.”

Cavs humble Heat, set records in lopsided sweep

Cleveland set a slew of records in its 138-83 Game 4 victory Monday night to finish off a 4-0 sweep in the Eastern Conference first-round series. The Cavs led by as many as 60 points before settling for a 55-point win, the largest series-clinching victory in NBA playoff history. The combined 92 points Cleveland won by in Games 3 and 4 is the largest point differential in a two-game span in playoff history and, wait for it, the 122-point differential for the series also set a playoff record.

Cavs give Heat historic playoff shellacking, sparking Charles Barkley ribs

The Cleveland Cavaliers dominated their series against the Miami Heat, winning Game 4 by 55 points—the fourth-largest playoff win in NBA history—and leading by as many as 60 during the game. Their 92-point margin over Games 3 and 4 set a new record for the largest two-game point differential in playoff history, and their 122-point advantage across the series was also a record, per ESPN. Donovan Mitchell said, "We came out here with a goal in mind." Miami’s Nikola Jovic led his team with 24 points, but Heat coach Erik Spoelstra admitted, "Damn, it was humbling. This series was humbling. These last two games were embarrassing... They showed us why we weren't ready for that." On TNT, one analyst said, "This is quitting at its finest right here... If you lose by 37 and come back and lose by 40, you can’t stay in town." Cleveland looked dominant throughout the series, with Mitchell scoring over 30 in Games 1 and 2, and the team consistently delivering over 20 assists per game while shooting 54.7% in Game 4.
