While the de minimis exemption is not being eliminated until May 2, both Shein and Temu released notices on April 16 saying they will be performing "price adjustments” starting April 25.
This surge in prices comes after President Donald Trump's administration revoked the "de minimis" exemption, which previously allowed goods under $800 to enter the US from mainland China and Hong Kong duty-free.
The move suggests Shein, which is now headquartered in Singapore, is passing on higher import duties to customers after Mr Trump imposed 145pc tariffs on all goods from China.
