Morgan Wallen is one of the biggest stars in country music right now, but based on a rather shocking announcement on Monday morning, it's clear that he is also the top artist on the planet right now in any genre – at least in terms of streaming popularity.
The album is never revelatory, but there are surprises: like the Bon Iver-channeling “Smile.” Wallen’s also a traditionalist — in the weeping guitars of “Falling Apart,” the backroads balladry of “Skoal, Chevy, and Browning,” where chewing tobacco and hunting gear has never sounded so … romantic?
That means it took less than 15 hours for Wallen's new album to become the most-streamed country album of the year.
