It’s not clear exactly when the covid.gov page changed. As shown on an archived version of the webpage, covid.gov included resources about the virus up until at least April 10th. The page now includes a link to the House Oversight Committee report, which similarly promotes the lab leak conspiracy theory.
The White House on Friday officially endorsed the theory that the COVID-19 virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a Chinese lab. The news came via a new website published by the White House laying out the evidence.
The White House published a website Friday with the evidence bolstering the laboratory leak theory for the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. The lab leak theory was derided and ridiculed by the left and the mainstream media as a "racist" conspiracy theory meant to smear the Chinese government, but more and more evidence shows that the theory is likely true.
CVID.gov and COVIDTESTS.gov now redirect to a site promoting the “lab leak’ theory. The theory is that COVID-19 emerged from an accidental leak from researchers working on viruses at a lab in Wuhan, China. A March 2020 report published in Nature Medicine by scientists across the globe was widely cited by public health officials.
The website includes a guide detailing how the pandemic truly began, countering the earlier narrative that it emerged from an outdoor market and from people eating bats. The White House claims, “’The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2’ publication was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory”
