Former state Attorney General Daniel Cameron is running for the seat. Republican Rep. Andy Barr is also considering a run. The conservative Club for Growth Action is pushing for Barr to run. Former Kentucky GOP Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced Thursday that he would be running for U.S. Senate in 2026. Cameron attempted to run for governor in 2023, but lost to current Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear. This announcement came the same day former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., announced he would not seek reelection.
"We need proven winners, not folks who can’t win even with the support of the greatest President we’ve ever seen," Tyler Staker, a spokesperson for Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky., told Fox News Digital. Cameron is up 30 points on Barr in the latest statewide public polling, Staker said.
