John Fetterman Slams New York Magazine For Alleging He's Unfit to Serve in Senate: 'It's a Hit Piece'

John Fetterman Reacts to Concerns About His Health

When asked if he has been keeping up with his recovery plan, Fetterman responded, "My doctors are like 'John is great.' I am on all of the plan that it's always been. It's incredibly invasive, and why are people talking about peoples' personal medical things?" He said he has been "front and center" about his experiences with depression and will "obviously" serve out his full term in the Senate. Earlier on Tuesday, he provided similar remarks to other networks, describing the article as a "one-source story" and "hit piece" to NBC News. In additional remarks posted to X, formerly Twitter, by CBS News' Cristina Corujo, Fetterman said he does not believe people are concerned about him. "They're actually not concerned," he said. "It's a hit piece."

Fetterman pushes back on health claims: My doctors say ‘John is great’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is pushing back against claims reported by New York Magazine that he is behaving erratically, driving recklessly and missing regular medical check-ups, which have raised questions about whether the freshman senator will serve out his six-year term. Fetterman told CNN’s Manu Raju in a recent interview that his doctors say he is doing fine and slapped down speculation about his mental health and prescription drug regimen as “invasive.” “My doctors are like, ‘John is great,’” the senator told CNN.

Sen. John Fetterman fumes over New York magazine’s ‘one-source hit piece’ claiming ‘erratic’ behavior

Democratic Sen. John Fetterman ripped a New York magazine report that quoted current and former staffers questioning his mental health as a “one-source hit piece” by a “very left publication.” “A one-source hit piece, some anonymous sources. So there’s nothing new,” Fetterman (D-Pa.) told reporters Tuesday about the exposé, which rocked the beltway late last week with its description of aides calling the senator “erratic” — as well as the rocky relationship with his wife, Gisele. When asked about the idea that those who spoke to the magazine were worried about his health, Fetterman shot back: “They are actually not concerned, it’s a hit piece.” The New York mag report’s protagonist was former Fetterman chief of staff Adam Jentleson, who resigned from his position last year and sent an alarmed email to the senator’s doctor.
