Montag and Pratt are suing for an undisclosed amount, which is intended to cover the cost of repairs to their property, loss of wages and earning capacity, and emotional distress. Per People, the couple’s home was not insured, as they claimed their insurance company dropped them from their policy prior to the fires. As they adjust to a new reality, they have also been busy documenting the devastation on Snapchat and TikTok, as well as re-promoting Montag’s 2010 album, Superficial. Earlier this month, Pratt told People that he and his wife were only active on social media because they needed the income.
Reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, who lost their home in the Palisades Fire, are two of the latest homeowners suing the city of Los Angeles for what they claim is failures in water management that made it hard for firefighters to battle the destructive blaze. “The Palisades Fire was an inescapable and unavoidable consequence of the egregious failure of the water supply system servicing areas in and around Pacific Palisades, including having an empty water reservoir. This failure was a substantial factor in causing my clients and others to suffer enormous losses,” their attorney, Peter McNulty, said in a statement.
The pair recently spoke about watching their property burn to the ground, with Montag sobbing over the destruction. “I’m so sad our house is gone. I wish I could have gone back and got more,” she tearfully admitted on TikTok. “I didn’t think it would be the last time we would be in our house. I’m so sad for everyone else going through the same thing.” Pratt called the situation a “nightmare come true,” sifting through the rubble of what had previously been their home.
