3h agoThe trip will be Trump's first major rally since his inauguration in January and his first visit to the battleground state since he narrowly defeated Kamala Harris to win Michigan in November. Michigan was among the battleground states Trump visited the most during the 2024 election cycle, notching two dozen visits to the state, at least three of which were in Macomb County. Macomb County is in the south-eastern part of the state, a stone's throw from Detroit. He handily won the Republican-leaning county, defeating Harris by double digits.
President Donald Trump will mark his first 100 days in office next week with a rally in Michigan, his first since returning to the White House earlier this year. Trump will visit Macomb County on Tuesday, the White House press secretary said. The region is just north of Detroit, known as an automotive hub. “President Trump is excited to return to the great state of Michigan next Tuesday, where he will rally in Macomb County to celebrate the FIRST 100 DAYS!” Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday on social media.
Trump last traveled to the state in November for his final campaign rally in Grand Rapids before the polls opened on Election Day. Republican U.S. Rep. John James, who represents southern Macomb County, tweeted his welcome to Trump: "Macomb County is honored to welcome President @realDonaldTrump back to MICHIGAN to celebrate the first 100 days of America’s New Golden Age. Together, we will Make Michigan Great Again." This month, Trump said he was working with Michigan leaders to keep Macomb County's Selfridge Air National Guard Base "open, strong, thriving" ― teasing the possibility of new fighter jets.
