In 2021, Braddock and U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna were both candidates in the primary election to represent the 13th Congressional District of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives.
U.S. District Judge William F. Jung handed down the sentence after Braddock pled guilty on February 3, 2025, to the charges stemming from threats made against a political rival during the 2021 primary election for Florida’s 13th Congressional District.
The case was prosecuted as part of the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force which aims to address threats of violence against people in the political arena whether they be elected officials or election workers.
