The Masters Final Round: Rory McIlroy Aims to Win First Green Jacket and Complete Career Grand Slam

Masters 2025 live updates: Round 4 leaderboard, tee times ahead of McIlroy vs. DeChambeau today

Rory McIlroy leads the 2025 Masters ahead of today’s fourth and final round, as he bids for a first green jacket that would complete the career Grand Slam. McIlroy (-12) sunk two eagles on his way to a 6-under 66, at one point enjoying a five-shot lead out front. But that gap was cut to just two shots by the end of play, as Bryson DeChambeau (-10) holed a sensational 16-yard putt from the 18th fringe to wrap up his 69. Justin Rose (-5) was the big loser at the top of the field on Saturday. He dropped three shots on the day, leaving the 18- and 36-hole leader outside the top five.

Bryson DeChambeau is trying to chase down Rory McIlroy again in a major. He has 18 holes to do it

Bryson DeChambeau finds himself trying to chase down Rory McIlroy in another major championship. This time, he has 18 holes to do it. The two-time and reigning U.S. Open champion made a nearly 50-foot putt from just off the green at the 18th hole Saturday, giving him a 3-under 69 in the third round of the Masters. That left DeChambeau just two shots behind McIlroy — the leader t 12 under — and in the final pairing with him Sunday for the final round. “Those last few holes, I just kept thinking to myself, ‘Get in the final pairing. Execute those shots the best you can,’” DeChambeau said after signing for a third straight round in the 60s. “I made a beautiful putt to finish it off and that was cool.”

The Masters 2025 live: Latest updates from third round at Augusta

This was emphatically Rory McIlroy’s day and this could yet be his most glorious week. In a startling third round, he made history for himself at the Masters and now European golf will watch the denouement to see if he can make history for his continent. But Bryson DeChambeau’s outrageous 50-foot birdie on the 18th ensured there are only two shots in it and, of course, the still-fresh memory of the burly American overhauling McIlroy over the last few holes in last year’s US Open at Pinehurst will be trailed large. DeChambeau, with three birdies in the last four holes for a 69, grabbed some of the McIlroy spotlight and the two-time major winner will not be overawed
