Former Attorney General Mike Cox launched his campaign Tuesday to serve as Michigan's next governor, expanding the field of GOP candidates in what is shaping up to be a competitive primary.

Former Michigan attorney general Mike Cox announced his run for governor. Cox served as attorney general for Michigan from 2003 to 2011. According to his campaign, he was the first Republican to hold that office in about 50 years. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran homicide prosecutor.
