A power substation in Fort Worth erupted in flames hours before a winter storm is set to hit /North Texas, including the DFW area, officials with the Fire Department and Oncor Electric Delivery said. Video of the fire posted to social media shows massive orange flames and black smoke coming from the power substation, which is located off Henrietta Creek Road and Seventeen Lakes Boulevard in far north Fort Worth, near Roanoke.
The explosion’s cause remains under investigation, with authorities urging residents to avoid the area and adhere to any evacuation advisories. “The Fort Worth Fire Department Public Information Officer (PIO) will be on scene of the large fire at the electrical substation off Seventeen Lakes Boulevard/Henrietta Creek Road in north Fort Worth,” Fort Worth Fire Department said in a statement on social media.
