Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party won Canada’s federal election on Monday, capping a stunning turnaround in fortunes fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s annexation threats and trade war.
If accurate, it means the 60-year-old will stay in office as Canada’s prime minister, winning a fourth term for the Liberals and inflicting a defeat on Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives. Mr Carney, who has never sat as an MP in the Canadian House of Commons, is still awaiting the election results in his own seat.
