Rep. Al Green (D-TX) announced an impeachment effort against President Donald Trump over a proposed takeover of the Gaza Strip. In a Wednesday speech on the House floor, Green reacted to Trump's shocking announcement that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip and resettle Palestinians elsewhere. "Ethnic cleansing has been a crime against humanity," Green explained. "And injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America." "I rise to announce that the movement to impeach the President has begun," he continued. "I rise to announce that I will bring articles of impeachment against the President for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done." The lawmaker said he expected impeachment "to be a grass-up movement, not a top-down."
Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green announced Wednesday, two weeks and two days into the second Trump presidency, that the movement to impeach President Trump for the third time "has begun." "I rise to announce that I will bring Articles of Impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done," he said about what would be Donald Trump's third impeachment.
The Democrat said his announcement is in response to Trump's backing of 'ethnic cleansing' of Palestinians in Gaza, the territory out of which Hamas terrorists are operating. Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing war, which was sparked after Hamas invaded Israel on October 7, 2023 and conducted the largest single-day murder of Jewish people since the Holocaust. During a joint press conference Trump said the U.S. will move to take use troops to take the war-torn Gaza Strip 'if necessary' and Palestinians are moved to neighboring countries. Trump insisted it was time for a new way of thinking and promised to build 'the Riviera of the Middle East.'
