Baltimore County detectives say Darien created the recording as retaliation against Eiswert, who had launched an investigation into the potential mishandling of school funds, Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough said Thursday.
Baltimore County police said a disgruntled ex-athletics director used AI to frame his high school's principal by generating a fake recording of racist rant in his voice. Police Chief Robert McCullough said his department worked with the FBI and forensic experts from the University of California at Berkeley to investigate the recording that was originally circulated on social media in January 2024.
A black ex-employee allegedly used artificial intelligence to frame the white principal of a Baltimore-area high school as a racist and an antisemite, resulting in relentless threats, harassment, and the principal temporarily being removed from the school. Dazhon "DJ" Darien is accused of impersonating Pikesville High School principal Eric Eiswert using AI-generated audio to mimic his voice and make racist, antisemitic statements on a simulated recording that was, then, widely circulated across social media.
