Pittsburgh Public Safety has provided an update on the man who fell 20 feet over the Clemente Wall at PNC Park on Wednesday night. According to public safety, they are now treating the incident as accidental. They also are not anticipating providing any additional updates to the public. The man remains in critical condition at the hospital.
Both Pirates manager Derek Shelton and McCutchen spoke on the incident after the game, sending their thoughts and prayers to the injured fan, who is in critical condition at Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side of Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Pirates owner Bob Nutting has released a statement after harrowing scenes at PNC Park on Wednesday night when a fan fell over a 21-foot wall and onto the field. In the game against the Chicago Cubs, the fan fell from atop the wall in right field - known by fans as the 'Clemente Wall'. The fan, who appeared to be shirtless, was tended to by medical personnel and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
